Tech Company Breaks Ground On New Livonia Facility

LIVONIA (WWJ) - More new jobs are coming to Metro Detroit.

Infineon Technologies held a ground breaking ceremony Friday at the site of its new facility in Livonia.

The German-based manufacturer has had a laboratory in Livonia for eight years, but Vice President of Automotive sales and Marketing Shawn Slusser said this new building will allow the company to add staff.

"The majority of the jobs that we have here in Livonia require advanced degrees in engineering and business, and with this new building we intend to continue to grow our team, adding jobs of this nature," Slusser said.

Slusser said the new energy-efficient building will have an expanded state-of-the-art quality applications lab and engineering lab.

Sales and Marketing Vice President John Zielinski said their semiconductors are used in a variety of products including cell phones, computers and cars.

The project is scheduled to be completed in January.
