DISAPPOINTED. I think this is what the tag line for UFC 146 should be. Of course this would never happen but that’s the feeling I have heading into this holiday weekend’s card. Literally every originally scheduled fight on the main card has been altered. Starting with the main event where heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos will defend his title against former champion Frank Mir. This was supposed to be an epic showdown between two of the divisions most skilled strikers until Alistar Overeem had to be removed because a positive drug test for elevated levels of testosterone. I was really looking forward to an exciting standup fight between Dos Santos and Overeem and instead Mir will get a chance for his third title in the UFC. I disagree with the fact that people say Mir’s striking has drastically improved. I think he just ducks his head and hopes to land an overhead left. If Mir can’t get this fight to the ground he has no chance. I like Do Santos easily by KO.

Rest of the card…

Cain Velasquez vs. Antonio Silva…Velasquez by TKO
Roy Nelson vs. Dave Herman…Nelson by decision
Stipe Miocic vs. Shane Del Rosario…Del Rosario by decision
Stefan Struve vs. Lavar Johnson…Johnson by KO
Edson Barboza vs. Jamie Varner…Barboza by submission
Jason Miller vs. C.B. Dallaway…Miller by decision
Dan Hardy vs. Duane Ludwig…Ludwig by decision
