2 Women Hurt In Kitchen Knife Fight

WALLED LAKE (WWJ) - Reports say jealousy might have had something to do with a knife fight at a Walled Lake residence.

Police were called to the Walled Lake Villa complex, near Pontiac Trial and Park Drive, around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday where they say a 29-year-old Detroit woman, a 24-year-old Walled Lake woman and a 17-year-old girl got into an altercation.

Police told WWJ Newsradio 950 the Detroit woman got a kitchen knife and attacked the Walled Lake woman, chasing her into the street where she was later found injured.

"There was a female on the street who was calling for help. Our officers got down here and found three females, one of them appears to live here and two from other residences. Two of them are cut up, they have some pretty serious cut injuries, and one is uninjured," said Police Chief Paul Shakinas.

The two women were taken to the hospital for treatment. Police said the wounds were not believed to be life-threatening.

The teen was taken in for questioning.

A neighbor said she thinks the scene of the crime was a drug house, given the different cars that would stop there at all hours of the day and night.

"You never think that you can be that close to it. I have three kids and it's scary. It's been so quiet here lately," she said.

The woman, who did not want to be named, said she is now considering finding a new place to live.

Unconfirmed reports say jealously may have been the motive, although police are not yet confirming what prompted the fight.

Police said a 4-year-old boy, also into the apartment at the time of the incident, slept through everything.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Department is assisting in the investigation.
