Gale's New Classroom in Context Resources Help Hasten the Digital Curriculum Transition

FARMINGTON HILLS -- Gale, part of Cengage Learning and a leading publisher of research and reference resources for libraries, schools and businesses, today announced Classroom in Context (CLiC), a curriculum-based family of resources designed to supplement textbooks and enhance learning with authoritative, media-rich content from Gale's award-winning In Context product suite.

Evolved from Gale's successful custom digital curriculum alignment program, in which Gale worked directly with schools to create online learning portals, CLiC is designed to increase student engagement, provide teachers with current digital content, and help school administrators make the transition to digital curriculum. Delivered through a unique portal experience, CLiC also has the flexibility to be easily integrated into an existing Learning Management System (LMS). Since CLiC can be used in the classroom, students can follow along and conduct research as they go, which also helps librarians accelerate usage of library products.

"After experiencing widespread success with our custom digital curriculum program, we wanted to create an easy way for schools to purchase courses off the shelf for the most-studied subjects," said Peter Scott, publisher, classroom and library solutions, Gale. "With CLiC, we are offering districts an instructional path to robust digital content and an engaging platform for twenty-first century learners, while also bridging the gap from the library to classroom."

CLiC resources are aligned to universal themes, units and topics found in national and state curriculum frameworks and many nationally-adopted textbooks. The national curriculum framework provides core learning goals, including real world skills and knowledge that students need to be successful after they graduate. By utilizing CLiC, administrators, librarians and teachers can ensure they're preparing students for college and real world challenges. With options to customize content selection and add new content, CLiC is a powerful and highly versatile tool for any classroom.

"Gale's custom designed Earth Science portal is revolutionizing the way we teach and learn about Earth Science in Rockville Centre," said Chris Pellettieri, assistant superintendent, Rockville Centre Schools, and one of the first adopters of Gale's custom digital curriculum program. "Our students are currently utilizing true twenty-first century skills by working in a safe, vetted, up-to-date portal, chock full of informational text, video, podcasts and the like, all from an abundance of rich sources and all at the click of a button."

The CLiC product suite currently includes high school Biology, Chemistry, U.S History and World History, with Earth Science and Government underway. Customers that purchase CLiC resources are provided with unlimited school-wide and remote access anytime, anywhere with an internet connection.
