Charlize Theron Captivates In "Snow White And The Huntsman"

HOLLYWOOD (WWJ) – Movie buffs already know that Charlize Theron is one heck-of-a-good actress. She is an Academy Award-winner, after all! But, even her biggest fans are sure to be left breathless by her performance in Snow White and the Huntsman.

Theron stars as the evil queen Ravenna, who is out to destroy Snow White (played by Kristen Stewart of the Twilight saga). Theron captures Ravenna's character so well that it's "all eyes on her" when she's onscreen.

This version of Snow White is much darker than the version (Mirror, Mirror) that featured Julia Roberts as the wicked ruler. But, that's a good thing in my book. Because while I thoroughly enjoyed Mirror, Mirror, I didn't want to see the same story done exactly the same way. And, fortunately, that's not what I saw.

Producers Joe Roth (Alice in Wonderland) and Sam Mercer (The Sixth Sense) and Director Rupert Sanders (making his feature film debut) crafted a captivating and refreshing new take on the legendary tale of Snow White. Snow White and the Huntsman takes viewers on a journey that begins in the kingdom ruled by Snow White's father, King Magnus (played by Noah Huntley), journeys into the Dark Forest (which Snow White and the Huntsman need to find a way to survive), travels through the beautiful Enchanted Forest and winds its way back to the kingdom, where Snow White leads her people into battle against Ravenna and her evil warriors.

Joining Stewart and Theron in this epic adventure are Chris Hemsworth, starring as Eric, the Huntsman; Sam Claflin as William, Snow White's childhood friend and the young duke who's long enchanted by her; Ian McShane as Beith, leader of the Seven Dwarves; Bob Hoskins as Muir, the blind "senior statesman"; Ray Winstone as the drunk dwarf Gort; and Nick Frost as Nion, Beith's right-hand man. Sam Spruell (The Hurt Locker) stars as Finn, Ravenna's evil brother, who's always at her "beck and call," aiding in whatever evil plot Ravenna cooks up.

Snow White and the Huntsman is rated PG-13.
