Scott Dixon Wins Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix Race

BELLE ISLE (WWJ) - Scott Dixon wins the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix leading wire to wire in the race on Sunday.

Dixon, driver of the No. 9 Target Chip Ganassi Honda, held the lead through the first 45 laps before the race was stopped.

Damage to the track caused a delay to the race on Sunday after 45 laps, the official count for a race to be counted is 46.

A red flag halted the event 45 laps into a race that was scheduled for 90 laps and shortened to 60.

Pot holes and grooves that were recently filled with tar became exposed.

Crews filled the gaps with epoxy that settled enough for the race to conclude.
