Lions' Jahvid Best Talks New Season And Old Injury With Samuelsen

DETROIT (97.1 THE TICKET) - The Detroit Lions' third year running back Jahvid Best dialed in to Jamie Samuelson Friday on 97.1 The Ticket to talk about the 2012/13 season.

Best will be signing autographs at the new Dick's Sporting Goods just north of Square Lake on Telegraph in Bloomfield on Saturday between noon and 2 p.m.

Best likes meeting the fans who often ask how he is or how many wins the Detroit Lions will get this season. "I don't know but we'll be good," is Best's answer.

"I'm feeling fine, I've had vacations for too long now. There is nothing bothering me now, I'm just ready to go back to work," said Best.

Best said it was frustrating to be sitting on the bench last season; " When you know you could be in a position to help your team but there is nothing you could do about it, it's definitely frustrating but my guys showed me they could pick up the slack, without me, so they still ended up finishing good."

Best says when he was placed on the injured reserves last season after suffering from a concussion, he really wanted to play.

"They say after you get one (concussion) you are more likely to get a second one, so for a long career, it was wise to just take that one-off," said Best.

The most recent concussion came after the Lions - Bears game that was shown on Monday Night Football.

Best talked about the Monday night game, where he rushed for 163 yards, including an 88 yard touchdown run ... "It was really magical, it really doesn't get any better than that," said Best."It was Monday night and the whole world is watching - I mean our fans are crazy ... it was just a fun day."

When asked about the speed he ran the 88-yard touchdown Best said; "The only thing I was worried about was getting the six points."

"Catching the ball in the back field is definitely something that I look forward to -- just to affect the games. When I touch the ball I want to make a big play. So, that's what my job is, when I get the ball, make a big play," said Best.

You can catch Best at the Saturday noon- 2 p.m. autograph session at Dick's Sporting Goods --  2105 South Telegraph Road in Bloomfield or you can call (248) 456-0714 .
