Merit Offers Data Center Infrastructure Management Course: Ann Arbor based Merit Network Inc. will host Data Center Infrastructure Management, a three-day course on critical features of managing a data center or server room of any size. Merit has presented this course twice previously with excellent reviews from attendees. The course will be held on Tuesday through Thursday, Aug. 7-9. In this course, attendees will learn about the most pertinent topics in the data center/server room industry: power, cooling, energy efficiency and the "green" data center, management tools, and integrating IT Service Management. Using case studies and real-world examples to illustrate key points, this course provides the knowledge needed to more effectively operate a data center. Attendees will gain the skills to better assess data center efficiency, availability, and power and cooling issues, and substantive knowledge they can take back to their data center to reduce costs and improve service. The course is instructed by its creator, David Cole. Cole is the founder, president and chief technical officer of No Limits Software, a technology company focused on data center management. He was the founder and software architect of The Advantage Group, a software development company focused on data center management software, which was acquired by Aperture. He is a Certified Data Centre Professional through ICOR, a Microsoft Certified Professional Systems Engineer, and is certified for ITIL version 3. He has presented at Datacenter Dynamics, Data Center World, AFCOM and other data center forums in the United States and Europe, and has had articles published in multiple data center publications. Class each day is from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Eastern time. The registration fee for attendees from Merit Members and educational organizations is just $995. Attendees from non-Member organizations may attend for $1295. Registration includes all training materials, which will be shipped to attendees. Scholarships are available for this event through the Merit Professional Learning scholarship program. Anyone from a Merit Member organization may apply for a scholarship if funding to attend is not otherwise available through the organization. Scholarship applications must be received by July 20. Automating Symantec Endpoint Protection Remediation with Symantec Workflow: ITS Partners Inc. will hold a Webcast on Symantec Endpoint Protection and Symantec Workflow on Tuesday, June 26, at 11 a.m. Eastern time. Overwhelmed by the number of events happening in you Endpoint Protection environment? Wish you could automate remediation of these events? In this webcast Jonathan Jesse, security consultant for ITS Partners, will present how to leverage the web services in Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager to build a workflow to help w/ remediation of SEP Events.  In our workflow we will demonstrate different options that are available via the web services including forcing scans to occur, moving to a lockdown group and forcing an update of the SEP definitions. This process will happen based on approvals from a SEP Admin team. The webcast will provide a demo of the workflow and how to enable the web services in the SEPM. Register at this link.
