Weekend Festival Focused On Green, Healthy Living

ROCHESTER (WWJ) - About 50,000 people are expected to converge in downtown Rochester this weekend for the Green Living Festival.

The event, presented by Michigan Green Team, features roundtables and exhibits for the die-hard greeners and for those who just want to have fun -- planet music, a parade and lots of kids activities.

WWJ Newsradio 950's Chrystal Knight spoke with  festival coordinator Will Rex.

"We really work to bring green technologies together with wellness technologies -- so, not just health for our planet but personal health," said Rex. "So, there's a great Consumer's Energy learning center ... We have Oprah's head of food safety who will be here speaking."

The three-day festival will highlight the green and wellness efforts of local business, government and non-profits. It will feature moer than 200 exhibits, more than 50 presentations, entertainment, concessions, activities, and many special events. Admission is free and open to all ages.

The Green Living Festival takes place Friday from 4 to 9 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Third and Water streets
