WAYNE COUNTY (WWJ) – A severe thunderstorm warning for Wayne County certainly lived up to its title. Heavy rain, hail, and wind ripped through parts of Monroe County.

Tracy Whitworth lives in the New Boston area, where the storm left a trail of downed trees and branches.

“The deck is just full of branches, you can’t even see the wood on the deck- it’s full of branches and hail – it was pretty amazing looking at it, actually we got out just to take a look at all the damage,” said Whitworth.

Whitworth said there was a steady downpour for about 15 -20 minutes that included the golf ball size hail and surrounding damage.

She said she’s not aware of any injuries from the storm.

DTE Energy has crews working on restoring power in the area.
