Drownings Claim Two Children In Weekend Accidents

FENTON TOWNSHIP (WWJ/AP) - Two separate drowings over the weekend claimed the lives of Michigan children.

According to police, an 11-year-old boy died after falling into Marl Lake in Genesee County while playing on an inflatable bouncer. The boy was playing Sunday night when he disappeared under the water. His body was found by a dive team.

The boy's name was not immediately released.

In St. Clair County, authorities said a 6-year-old girl died in an apparent accidental drowning at a park. Emily Jo Beery-Rush of Port Huron was swimming with other kids when she went missing.

The sheriff's department said she was found and pulled to shore, but was pronounced dead at a hospital.
