Flash Storms Bring Flooding And Downed Trees

WAYNE & OAKLAND (WWJ) - The storms have blown down trees and branches near Brighton and Milford and caused flooding in a construction zone along I-96 near Milford Road.

A wind gust of 50-miles per hour and hail was reported in Livonia by a trained spotter with the National Weather Service.

Golf ball sized hail was also reported near South Lyon and smaller hail also was reported in Novi.

The Chesterfield Township fire department in Macomb County tells WWJ that the storms are causing tremendous problems. They confirm reports of fallen trees, downed power lines and home fires scattered throughout the town.

In addition to the storm and wind damage about 42,000 DTE customers are without service, mainly in Oakland and Macomb Counties.
