More Republicans File To Run For 11th Congressional District Seat

LIVONIA (WWJ) - Four more Republicans have filed to run for the 11th Congressional District seat recently vacated by Thaddeus McCotter, ensuring that there will be a special election September 5.

Former State Representative Nancy Cassis of Novi and three Livonia residents, Steve King, Kenneth Crider and Carolyn Kavanaugh beat the Friday afternoon deadline, joining Kerry Bentivolio of Milford, who filed Monday.

Labor activist Dave Curson of Belleville will be only Democrat on the ballot.

McCotter resigned abruptly, citing the pressure of a state investigation into the filing of bogus signatures in the nominating process.

He represented the Oakland and Western Wayne County district for ten years.
