Motorcyclist Hospitalized After Fleeing Police

CLINTON TWP. (WWJ) - An 18-year-old Clinton Township man is hospitalized after police said he sped away during a traffic stop.

Roseville police said the young man was spotted driving a motorcycle at 69-miles-per-hour in a 30-mile-per-hour zone in the area of Wildwood and Hayes.

An officer pulled him over but, as the cop approached the bike, police said the man took off. A short time later, he rear-ended a car which was stopped at a traffic light.

The man was listed in critical condition Monday at an area hospital and was expected to undergo surgery.

Police said the man's driver's license was suspended and he'd failed to obtain a motorcycle endorsement.

The man will be charged with  driving on a suspended license and fleeing and eluding police. His name has not been released.
