Suspect In Couple's Murder, Dismemberment Held Without Bond

ALLEN PARK (WWJ) - A 39-year-old man will be held without bond, accused of killing and dismembering an Allen Park couple.

Roger Bowling was arraigned Monday in 24th District Court, where emotions ran high. Some of the victims' family members shouted, "Burn in hell!" as the defendant was led from the room.

Bowling faces two counts each of first-degree murder, mutilation of a body and having a firearm in a felony.

The judge entered a not guilty plea on Bowling's behalf.

Bowling is a former boyfriend of 32-year-old Danielle Greenway, who was fatally shot along with her fiancée, 42-year-old Chris Hall.

Police said the pair was murdered in their home on Ann Street where investigators found "copious amounts" of blood, along with numerous cleaning supplies.

The U.S. Coast Guard recovered the torsos last Tuesday morning, east of Belle Isle where Lake St. Clair empties into the river. A fisherman later spotted some body parts underwater and along a seawall, not far from where the torsos were found.

Also found with the body parts were an open suitcase, a sheet and a circular saw.

Bowling was arrested Thursday.

Outside the courtroom Monday, Hall's sister, Laura Robichaud, spoke fondly of her brother, who was a veteran.

"He was shy, real quiet and real kind ...  he worked really hard as an electrician and he served in the Persian Gulf War," Robichaud said.

Robichaud said the Hall and Greenway took Bowling in when he needed a home. Eventually, he was asked to leave.

She said family members confronted Bowling when the couple went missing.

"And we kept asking the guy, 'Where are they?' ... and he said, 'I don't know. I haven't seen them since Saturday,'" Robichaud said. "And he was actually living in their house after what he did."

First-degree murder carries a mandatory penalty of life in prison without parole. Bowling also is charged with tampering with evidence.
