Dataspeed Gets Money To Advance Embedded Components

STERLING HEIGHTS -- With application assistance from the Macomb-Oakland University INCubator, client company Dataspeed Inc. has been awarded $47,500 from the Business Accelerator Fund of the Michigan Small Business and Technology Development Center.

Based in Troy, Dataspeed designs and supplies advanced custom electronic components for the defense and industrial markets. Staff members have expertise in all facets of electronic design and manufacturing, including schematic capture, printed circuit board layout, software design, testing and validation. Customers include General Dynamics Land Systems, Meritor Automotive, Honeywell and the U.S. Army. Dataspeed is currently in the process of obtaining ISO 9001 certification.

"The Business Accelerator Fund award positions Dataspeed to implement their new strategy and realize significant increases for the company, as well as enhance the potential for expanding economic and employment growth within Michigan," said Wayne Blizman, senior advisor for Commercialization at the Macomb-OU INCubator.

With a team of engineers specializing in electronic hardware, software, firmware, algorithms, mechanical design, modeling, simulation and manufacturing, Dataspeed assists clients in developing products that require customized embedded electronics components. Their work focuses on hardware and software design that is reliable, production ready and cost-effective.

As the Dataspeed award demonstrates, the Business Accelerator Fund is helping the Macomb-OU INCubator provide specialized business acceleration services to companies commercializing advanced technology. It is a 21st Century Jobs Fund Program managed by the MI-SBTDC in partnership with the Michigan Economic Development Corp. and Michigan's network of business accelerators.
