Crook Makes Off With Pocket Full Of Change, Booze

YPSILANTI (WWJ) - The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office is looking to identify a thief who broke into a Mexican restaurant in Ypsilanti Township.

Police say the robbery happened around 6:20 a.m. Thursday at Los Amigos Restaurant on Michigan Avenue, near Ridge Road.

According to investigators, the suspect gained entry to the restaurant after using a brick to smash a hole in a glass door large enough for him to reach through and unlock the door.

Once inside, police say the suspect stole the cash register drawer -- which contained coins only -- and a couple of bottles of alcohol.

Security camera inside the restaurant captured the crook in action, who appears to be a tall, slender black male wearing a hat, jeans, short sleeve shirt and black shoes with white stripe.

Anyone who might recognize the suspect or have information pertaining to incident is asked to call the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office confidential tip line at 734-973-7711 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
