Man Caught 'Stimulating Himself' In Old Navy Store

TROY (WWJ) - A 33-year-old Detroit man was arrested after police say he was caught "stimulating himself" in the girls' department of a Metro Detroit Old Navy clothing store.

The Oakland County Prosecutor's Office charged Aaron Frederick-William Lingeman, a registered sex offender, with indecent exposure by a sexually delinquent person, malicious destruction of police property and resisting and obstructing a police officer -- all felony charges. He is jailed on a $50,000 bond.

Troy Police say they were called to the Old Navy store on Coolidge Road on Friday on a report of an indecent exposure.

A security officer at the store told police Lingeman was observed walking around the store carrying a camera before he entered the young girls department, stood behind a display and began watching a young girl. The security officer said that's when Lingeman lowered his pants and began stimulating himself while watching the young girl.

Officers confronted Lingeman while he was still on the premises and escorted him out of the store.

Police say Lingeman initially gave them a false name, but officers used a finger print scanner at the scene which provided his real name.

When advised that he was under arrest, police say Lingeman attempted to flee. After a brief struggle, officers managed to handcuff Lingeman and place him in the rear seat of the police vehicle.

En route to the station, police say Lingeman "went wild" and kicked out both rear door windows. Other officers arrived to assist and Lingeman was placed in leg irons and belly chains before being transported to the county lock-up in a prisoner van.

Troy Police Captain Robert Redmond said officers at the scene searched Lingeman's vehicle.

"In the front seat of the car and rear seat areas (were) numerous items of young girls' under clothing. A toolbox in the trunk of the car had same thing, cell phones, a camera," said Redmond. "The camera and cell phones contained pictures of young girls as he's been watching them in stores."

Police said, along with the undergarments, the tool box contained makeup and wigs.

According to Michigan's Public Sex Offender Registry, Lingeman registered as a sex offender in June 2001 after he was convicted of fourth degree attempted criminal sexual conduct in March 2001, and fourth degree criminal sexual conduct in July 2001, both in Oakland County. Later that year, in October, Lingeman was convicted of two charges of being a sexually delinquent person in Macomb County.
