Domino's Pizza Holds $50K Contest For 'Ultimate Delivery Vehicle' Design

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - If you're a pizza lover who's ever dreamed of being a vehicle designer, a national pizza chain is offering up $50,000 for your ideas.

Ann Arbor-based Domino's Pizza is looking to revolutionize pizza delivery by asking consumers to help design the "Ultimate Delivery Vehicle."

The company wants people to submit ideas about what they think the vehicle should be like, and creativity is being encouraged. It might include pepperoni decals, a hotline for ordering, or an in-car pizza oven.

"Part of the excitement of this campaign is that none of us is really sure how the design will end up, or what it will feature," Russell Weiner, Domino's Pizza chief marketing officer, said in a statement.

According to company officials, delivery people drive 10 million miles a week in the U.S. alone.

Design competitions begin Monday, Aug. 13. Consumers and enthusiasts can submit a design idea by visiting www.ultimatedeliveryvehicle.com -- where they can take part in several stages of design competitions including exterior, packaging, interior and surfacing.

Domino's will be giving out more than $50,000 in prizes throughout the competition stages to consumers who submit ideas and designs.
