BBCetc Offers SBIR, STTR Training In Kalamazoo: If you want to write winning federal Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer grant applications to the Department of Defense and the Department of Energy, attend proposal prep classes Aug. 28 at Southwest Michigan First, 241 E. Michigan Ave. in Kalamazoo. This training will help tech entrepreneurs and businesses prepare winning proposals. Through the SBIR/STTR programs, 11 federal agencies make over $2 billion in high-risk, non-dilutive capital available to fund R&D at innovative small companies annually. DoD's annual program budget is $1.2 billion and DoE's is $150 million. The full-day training session will be led by Michael Kurek, PhD, BBCetc partner. Attendees will learn essential information for crafting a competitive SBIR/STTR proposal that meets the unique requirements of the two agencies. It provides detailed instruction on the ins and outs of preparing a proposal, including both technical and commercialization plans, and navigating the often complicated submission process. The program will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $75 for companies based in Michigan and $150 for companies based elsewhere. There will also be a class Sept. 19 in Lansing on proposals for the National Institutes of Health. For more information email info@bioconsultants.com or call (734) 930-9741.
