Detroit Police Asking For Help Locating Missing 29-Year-Old Woman

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are asking for the public's help in locating a missing 29-year-old woman.

Tamela Wells (DPD)
Tamela Wells, 29, is missing.

Tamela Wells was last seen on Monday, August 6 in the 19700 block of Appleton. Wells was driving her car, a white, 4-door, Pontiac Grand Prix. The car has been found by police.

Rickey Tennant, Wells' boyfriend of 15 years, said Wells was acting suspicious the night she disappeared.

"We were talking and she told me she had to go somewhere, and I asked her where she had to go and she just said she had to go somewhere," Tennant said.

Although Tennant said his girlfriend typically goes out drinking with girlfriends once or twice a week, he finds it unusual for Wells to leave their 6-year-old daughter for so long.

"She don't drink every day, all day all the time," he said. "She'll just do it once or twice a week just to get away, but she's no alcoholic."

According to Tennant, a woman who lives on Appleton said she saw a man getting out of the car where police later found it.

"A lady said she'd seen a man get out of the car that morning and walk away from the car, and he was a tall, skinny black male," he said.

Tamela is 5'-6" and weighs 150 lbs, she has brown eyes, black hair, and has a medium complexion.

She was last seen wearing a white shirt and blue jean shorts with a cuff.

Tamela is in good mental and physical condition.
