Feedback Sought On Plan To Improve Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit residents are getting a chance to voice their opinions about Detroit neighborhoods.

The Detroit Works Project is holding a series of open house events to get more feedback on a developing strategy to improve Detroit.

"The feedback we're asking for now is really getting to that next level of detail," said project spokesman Dan Pitera. "How do we massage what we've heard all the way along?

Everything you see on the wall has been developed through the thousands of people we've been listening to. Now we wanna go back and say, OK, what detail do we need to make this more specific, more unique to the city of Detroit?"

The remaining open house schedule is as follows:

• Tuesday, August 14: Neighborhoods
• Tuesday, August 21: City Systems, Infrastructure and Environment
• Tuesday, August 28: Land Use, Zoning and Urban Design
• Tuesday, September 4: Public Land and Facilities.

The open houses are held at the project's HomeBase at 2929 Russell Street in Detroit's Eastern Market.

Project representatives will be on-hand from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. to give tours, explain the details, and gather input. Formal presentations will be given at 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
