Katie Holmes Brings Love Of Cupcakes To Metro Detroit

PLYMOUTH (CBS Detroit) Lots of women turn to comfort food in the wake of divorce, and superstar ex-wife Katie Holmes is apparently no exception.

Holmes' little-known connection to small-town Plymouth, Mich., was revealed this week when she popped into town, reportedly with her mother and daughter Suri, to visit her sister Nancy, a teacher in the Plymouth-Canton schools.

And they went for cupcakes.

Holmes and her family stopped into The Cupcake Station in Plymouth for sweet treats, including a red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting for Suri, and a caramel chocolate for Katie.  A staffer said there were no bodyguards and no paparazzi -- but there were lots of smiles.

"I realized who it was, but we were empty, we just let her sit and eat and enjoy her food without anyone bothering her," said Corey, an employee. "Suri was well-behaved, they seemed like a happy family ... Everything was good."

Holmes, whose divorce from Tom Cruise made international headlines, also stopped into Kilwin's Ice Cream in Ann Arbor.
