Arts, Beats & Eats Opens Today

ROYAL OAK, Mich. (WWJ) - It's one of Oakland County's favorite summer festivals: Arts, Beats & Eats, and it takes place in downtown Royal Oak today through Labor Day.

The festival celebrates art, music and fantastic food. More than 200 performances will be held on 10 stages, including REO Speedwagon, Travis Tritt, the Guess Who and Morris Day & The Time. The music starts tonight with local favorite Stewart Francke.

"I love that -- first of all it's Labor Day weekend," Francke told WWJ. "People, I don't know if they have summer fatigue or fall excitement. The crowds are huge, always, and they come to listen; and I really love that. And, it's just really well run and, plus, it's in Royal Oak, which is pretty much my hometown now. It has more of a hip cache and I think it's easier for the crowds to navigate," Francke added.
