OnStar to Offer Services in Mexico in 2013

DETROIT -- OnStar is expanding to offer its integrated safety, security and navigation services in Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles sold in Mexico at an as-yet unspecified date in 2013.

With the move, Mexico will join the United States, Canada and China as countries where the services will be available.   "OnStar's expansion into Mexico will make OnStar the preeminent provider of automobile safety and security services in Latin America," said Mary Chan, president of Global Connected Consumer.

"This is an important step as we will continue to grow GM's connected vehicle solutions in other regions of the world in the coming months and years."

OnStar is planning to offer the following services in Mexico:
* Automatic Crash Response
* 24/7 Emergency Services
* Stolen Vehicle Assistance

"While OnStar uses very powerful and advanced technologies to deliver its services in the car and via the web and smart devices, it is simple and easy for the customer to use," said Jeff Christensen, managing director of OnStar Mexico. "OnStar's human contact is what makes it unique and differentiates it from other telematics services in the market."
