Oakland County Community Run Canceled After Death Of Officer

OAKLAND COUNTY (WWJ) - Due to the passing of Officer Patrick O'Rourke of the West Bloomfield Police Department, the Oakland County Community Run, held by Special Olympics Michigan Law Enforcement Torch Run has been canceled.

The event was scheduled for Friday and included an East and West leg; the East leg starting from the Pontiac Police Department and the West leg starting from the South Lyon Police Department.

The cancellation of the Oakland County Community Run does not affect the continuation of Law Enforcement Torch Run Central Route.

Central Route is an annual 750-mile, non-stop, 5-day relay run that began on Monday at noon in Copper Harbor in the tip of the Upper Peninsula and ends Friday between 6 and 6:30 p.m. at the Sterling Heights Fraternal Order of Police hall.
