Stop Feeding Your Dog So Much

By: Bill McAllister

Obie, the way too obese Dachshund, is a five-year old fatso whose elderly owners had to give him up because they were dealing with their own health issues. So, while they were neglecting Obie by clearly feeding him way too much food, he became the size of one of our producer Theron's butt cheeks! While I feel bad for anyone who has to deal with aging health issues, they should have done something sooner for this poor pooch?

The average weight for an adult Dachshund is around 35 pounds. Obie weighs over twice that amount, at last report he was tipping the dog scales at 77 pounds! The Oregon Dachshund Rescue took Obie in and is trying to get him the help he needs. They are attempting to get Obie to shed 40 pounds by placing him on a special high-protein diet. He's too fat for walks but after shedding a bit of the weight, they hope to get him on a treadmill. His treatment is kinda expensive so they've set up a Facebook page and PayPal account for donations.

Now, if Weight Watchers can pay Jessica Simpson 3 or 4 million dollars, why can't they pay Obie a few thousand to help him become an Adonis? The moral of the story is this; if you feed your dogs food scraps every time YOU eat and they are 1/5 the size of you, they are going to plump up like our buddy Obie here.

Obie!!! Drop and give me twenty!
