MSU Student Hospitalized After Being Hit By Car

MERIDIAN TWP. — A Michigan State University student has been hospitalized after she was struck by a car early Saturday morning.

Meridian Township police Lt. Greg Frenger said the woman was heading north at about 5:50 a.m. near or on the crosswalk at Mt. Hope and Hagadorn roads.

A man driving an older-model Buick was traveling east in the left lane of Mt. Hope Road and apparently had a green light as he drove through the intersection, Frenger said.

"He didn't see her until she was right in front of him and he couldn't avoid her," Frenger said.

The woman's condition has not been released. Frenger said she is from out of the area and her family has been notified, and he did not know her age.

The driver has not been ticketed at this time.

MSU police were the first to respond and assisted Meridian Township police with the investigation.
