Does It Make Sense To Continue Searching For Hoffa's Body?

DETROIT (WWJ) - One man's claim that he witnessed the burial of Jimmy Hoffa 37 years ago has prompted another search for the missing Teamsters leader's body. Roseville police plan to take soil samples from beneath the driveway of a home on Friday.

After all these years, does it make sense to keep looking for Hoffa's body?

Listeners calling the WWJ Newsradio 950 newsroom on Thursday are split on the idea. Here are a some of your comments:

- "Let the man rest in peace, he's gone, they'll never find him anyway. Stop wasting time and money."

- "No, I don't think it's a waste of time. An open case is an open case."

- "I think that we should be sensitive to what the family would like to have done."

- "It's the same old same old. Give it up ... nothing to gain."

- "This has been going on for a long time. He's not there."

- "Why did it take so many years for somebody to come forth with information?"

- "I think it would be nice to finally get some closure."

"Motor City Mafia" author and Detroit mob expert Scott Burnstein thinks there's no way the Mafia left the Teamsters boss in a place where he could be recovered after he disappeared from a Bloomfield Hills restaurant on July 30, 1975.

But the government isn't so sure. In fact, they've spent hundreds of thousands of dollars in the decades-long hunt for Hoffa, according to inside sources. (More on this here).
