Crash Investigation On I-75 In Troy Aggravates Drivers

TROY, Mich. (WWJ) - Troy police spent hours in the midst of a lengthy crash investigation that caused Monday morning slowdowns for commuters.

WWJ's Ron Dewey reported from the scene that southbound I-75 just past Big Beaver was the site of the investigation. The nature of the investigation isn't clear, but the car involved in the accident is sitting sideways in the median ditch. It's also apparent that the car had caught fire.

Following an investigation that lasted several hours, Troy Police cleared the scene just after 7:15 a.m. Monday.

Before that, investigators were working under floodlights, taking measurements and snapping pictures, trying to piece together what happened.

Initial reports had a person trapped inside the car -- which had caught on fire -- but WWJ has since heard that no one was found inside the vehicle, and there have been no confirming reports of fatalities or injuries.

Southbound I-75 traffic was funneled into the Big Beaver service lane to get around the scene.
