Person Tasered In Shelby District Court

SHELBY TWP. (WWJ) Callers are reporting an unusual incident inside the Shelby Township courthouse Tuesday afternoon, saying an altercation inside the building resulted in at least three people being detained.

One person was reportedly tasered by police in the facility near Van Dyke and 23 Mile road.

Bystanders say police lights and sirens surround the courthouse.

But Shelby Township Supervisor Rick Stathakiss said the incident was quickly brought under control. Utica police and the Macomb County Sheriff's Department also responded.

"It was between two groups of people, one had to be Tasered," Stathakiss said. "The only thing I can tell you right now is we have three in custody, but no one was hurt."
