Detroit Woman Wins $1M With Free Lottery Ticket

LANSING (AP/WWJ) - A Detroit woman was lucky -- and then lucky again, winning both a free ticket and then a $1 million jackpot with it.

Irene Molette won the multi-state Powerball game.

The Michigan Lottery said today the woman won a free ticket through a scratch-off game and matched five numbers on Sept. 29.

In related news, the lucky hits just keep coming: The Michigan lottery announced Friday it had generated a record $770 million profit during this fiscal year.

The lottery says it tops the previous record of nearly $750 million, was set during the 2007 fiscal year.

Lottery money goes into the state's School Aid Fund.
