Accidents Kill 2 In Chesterfield; Injuries In Center Line

METRO DETROIT (WWJ) - Chesterfield Township authorities say a woman was trying to help an injured driver at the scene of a highway crash when she was hit and killed by an oncoming car in one of two serious Macomb County accidents this weekend.

The Sunday morning accident also claimed the life of another driver on eastbound I-94 near 23 Mile Road when at least three cars and a semi truck collided.

In nearby Center Line, three people were sent to the hospital after another crash Sunday afternoon.

Police say one car flipped over onto a guard rail and teetered over I-696 on northbound Van Dyke at 11 Mile Road.

The one car was on its roof on the guard rail, while the other was wedged against the rail. Firefighters worked to stabilize both vehicles before pulling the occupants out.

No word on the seriousness of their injuries. Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
