Plex Moving In To New Troy HQ

TROY -- The manufacturing management software developer Plex Systems Inc. is moving into a new headquarters at 900 Tower Drive in Troy.

Plex has built out one 15,500-square-foot complete floor in the building and has committed to three more floors over the next couple of years, CEO Mark Symonds said.

"We're using this building for growth right now," Symonds said. "We still have 2 1/2 years left on our lease at our tech center and Giddings Road, and we've hired 87 people so far this year, so as we will continue to do that, we will fill up here, and after 2 1/2 years we will have the ability to move everybody in here."

Plex's building on Giddings Road in Auburn Hills is 40,000 square feet in size. Its former headquarters on Harmon Road nearby, where its data center is located and will remain for now, is 14,000 square feet in size.

"We're looking into the future, and saying that rather than keep piecemealing this, let's get a place where we can hae everybody in one place eventually," Symonds said. "Also we believe Troy is more central, so for recruiting throughout the Detroit area, this is more convenient."

And Plex is indeed hiring, Symonds said -- developers, consultants, sales staff, marketing staff and data center staff.

The company's growth is in the automotive, electronics and food and beverage industries, Symonds said.
