Wayward Deer Causes $1,200 In Damage At Church

HOWELL (WWJ/AP) - A wayward deer made a trip to a Michigan church this week, causing $1,200 in damage when it crashed through a window.

The deer was spotted running near First Presbyterian Church in Howell on Monday before it broke the window.

"A lot of times, we hear car accidents -- honking horns, squealing tires -- and that's what I heard," Church business manager Lei Maier told The Livingston County Daily Press & Argus.

Maier said the deer repeatedly tried to get out through another window, but it kept "bouncing" off the

plastic, Maier said. Eventually, the buck turned and ran out of the church through the window it first entered.

Maier said she didn't know what happened to the deer after it left.

The window at the church, about 45 miles northwest of Detroit, was replaced Thursday.
