Mich. Man Enters Plea In West Virginia Underage Sex Case

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WWJ/AP) - A Michigan man faces up to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to traveling to West Virginia to have sex with a minor.

Federal prosecutors said Monday that 33-year-old Ashlee Liebert, of Whitmore Lake, Mich., entered his plea in federal court in Huntington.

Prosecutors say Liebert established a relationship with a 12-year-old Putnam County girl, in which he had email and phone conversations that were sexual in nature, after meeting the girl while playing the online game "World of Warcraft."

In March, Putnam County authorities discovered Liebert and the minor in his parked vehicle in Buffalo, W.Va., and found various items including vodka and a bag of candy. Officials say a subsequent search of his home also uncovered more than 600 images and videos of minors engaged in sexual conduct.

Police say Liebert told them he knew how old the girl was "but still wanted to be with her because their love was so strong," The Charleston Gazette reported.

Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 11.
