Stoney and Bill's Football Picks For The Weekend Of 11-03-12
Last week was a great week for both Stoney and Bill, both went 4-1 on the week and Stoney has now broken .500 again with a season record of 21 and 19. Bill is right on his heels with a season record of 20 and 20. Will this be the week where Bill finally overtakes Stoney for the lead, check out the guys picks below and let us know what you think.
Stoney's Picks
Michigan State +2 vs Nebraska
The Spartans defense has been tremendous for most of the season. The offense looked a little better last week in the win at Wisconsin. If they can defend Denard Robinson I think they can do the same thing to Taylor Martinez.
PICK MSU
Michigan -12 1/2 at Minnesota
The Gophers are playing much better and opened a can on Purdue last week. Michigan destroyed Minnesota 58-0 last season and I am sure that has not been forgotten. Although Brady Hoke says Denard Robinson will start, his effectiveness is a question mark. Since I am not completely sure Robinson plays, I have to take the points even though I don't want to.
PICK MINNESOTA
Alabama - 9 1/2 at LSU
The game of the season thus far in college football. LSU at home at night is tough to go against let alone score against. The Tigers are 9th in the country in points allowed. However, the Crimson Tide is #1 in the country in scoring defense and #11 in scoring. This game features the best offensive line in Alabama against the best defensive line in LSU. 9 1/2 is a ton of points to give a great defense playing at home, but I will take that chance/
PICK ALABAMA
Atlanta -4 vs Dallas
The Cowboys at 3-4 are coming off a tough loss to the Giants, while the Falcons remained undefeated by blowing out the Eagles in Philly. All indications are saying to bet on Atlanta, but it's too obvious. I am going with the trends here. Try these on for size. The Falcons are 3-13 against the spread when coming off of 3 or more straight wins. It may be an obscure stat, but I am going with it.
PICK COWBOYS
Detroit - 3 1/2 vs Jacksonville
The Jaguars are 1-6 but against the spread they are 4-3. The Lions are 2-4-1 against the spread. The Lions need this game badly if they realistically want to think about sniffing the playoffs. The fact that the Jaguars are banged up and have not covered at home all season lead me to go with the team that has the most to gain by winning the game.
PICK LIONS
Bill's Picks
Michigan State +2 vs Nebraska
Nebraska's offense versus Sparty's defense. Spartans avoid a 3-game home losing streak by beating the Cornhuskers.
Take the Spartans and the points.
Michigan -12 1/2 at Minnesota
They say Denard will play. If he does this will be easy. And even if he doesn't I still like Michigan.
Michigan to cover.
Alabama - 9 1/2 at LSU
A re-match of last year's BCS Championship game in which Alabama beat the Tigers 21-0. Saturday night at Tiger Stadium is a party as long as the centerfield bleachers are open!
Take LSU and the points.
Atlanta -4 vs Dallas
The Falcons are trying to go 8-0. Matt Ryan is having a great year. Cowboys suck, ok that's a personal commentary.
Take Atlanta to cover.
Detroit - 3 1/2 vs Jacksonville
A less than perfect Calvin Johnson could make this a difficult game for the Lions. That being said I think (hope) the Lions will cover.
Take the Lions to cover.
