Patterson Standing By GOP Ticket For 2012 Election

DETROIT (WWJ) - With the election just a few days away, GOP Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson is standing behind his party.

"I'm on record for at least three or four months back before the accident, so at least four or five months saying that Romney would win Michigan," said Patterson. "Now that I'm back and reading the stats and the numbers, I'm convinced that he is going to carry Michigan."

Patterson made his comments on Channel 4's Flash Point Sunday morning.

Both Patterson and his security officer and driver, James Cram, were seriously injured in an Aug. 10 crash in Auburn Hills. The other driver, 31-year-old Anthony Prainito of Royal Oak, is facing three misdemeanor counts for the crash.  He pleaded not guilty and could face jail time if convicted.

Patterson, who suffered injuries to his wrists, leg and hip, has lost a significant amount of weight. He is temporarily using a wheelchair.
