Madison Heights Residents More Cautious After 2 Women Report Break-Ins

MADISON HEIGHTS (WWJ) - Madison Heights residents and police are asking for help in trying to find a person who's believed to have broken into two homes.

Last Friday, a woman on Woodmont Street just off 13 Mile was awakened by her barking dogs and found her back door had been unlocked.

Mike Setzer lives on Woodmont. He said neighbors are locking their doors and keeping an eye on one another during this difficult time.

"I mean, it's the times right now , things like this are starting to happen, the economy is tough and people are doing strange things right now," said Setzer. "I think that has a lot to do with it."

Setzer calls his neighborhood very nice and is residents are being more vigilant about their safety.

"(We're) locking up, a lot of us are keeping our lights on at night now, " he said.

In August, a woman on the same block reported she awakened to a man standing over her bed. Madison Heights police have increased their patrols in the neighborhood.
