Fisker Automotive Plans Midwest Technical Center

DETROIT (AP) - Electric car maker Fisker Automotive says it plans to establish a new technical center in the Midwest, possibly in the Detroit area.

The company says Thursday the new facility is planned to open in the spring. Fisker says it will pave the way for development of its Atlantic model line.

Fisker says southeast Michigan is among the potential locations for the technical center.

Fisker says the center will bring the automaker closer to key component suppliers and low-emission technical expertise at the heart of the U.S. automotive industry.

Fisker currently sells one model, the $100,000 Fisker Karma plug-in hybrid sports car. It's developing the Atlantic coupe, which would sell for around $55,000.
