3 Michigan Universities Accept Bowl Bids

Three Michigan universities have accepted invitations to play in bowl games.

The University of Michigan football team will play in the 27th annual Outback Bowl against No. 11 South Carolina on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013. The game will be broadcast on WWJ starting at 1 p.m. from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla.

Michigan (8-4, 6-2 Big Ten) finished the regular season in second place in the Legends Division. The Wolverines are ranked 19th in the Associated Press media poll and 22nd in the USA Today Coaches poll.

South Carolina (10-2, 6-2 SEC) finished the regular season in third place in the SEC's Eastern Division. The Gamecocks are listed 10th in the USA Today Coaches poll and rank 11th in the AP poll.

TICKET INFORMATION: The Michigan Athletic Ticket Office will begin selling tickets to the 2013 Outback Bowl on Monday, Dec. 3, at 8:30 a.m. EST. Tickets are $80 which includes a $5 service charge applied to each ticket (limit of eight tickets per account). All tickets will be assigned based on the priority point program. Fans can purchase tickets online or be calling the ticket office at 866-296-MTIX or 734-764-0247. The priority seating deadline is Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 5 p.m.

Michigan State To Play In Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl

Michigan State (6-6, 3-5 Big Ten) has accepted an invitation to play TCU (7-5, 4-5 Big 12) in the 24th-annual Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl (formerly known as the Copper and Insight Bowl) on Saturday, Dec. 29 in Tempe, Ariz. The Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl will be televised nationally by ESPN, with kickoff set for 10:15 p.m. EST.

The Spartans are bowl eligible for a school-record sixth consecutive year (2007 Champs Sports Bowl, 2009 Capital One Bowl, 2010 Alamo Bowl, 2011 Capital One Bowl, 2012 Outback Bowl, 2013 Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl).

Michigan State is making its 23rd postseason bowl appearance overall, including its first-ever trip to the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl.

TICKET INFORMATION: Michigan State receives an allotment of 11,000 tickets for the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl. Ticket prices range from $25-$125 each. Fans may order Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl tickets online or by calling the Spartan Ticket Office (open weekdays from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.), locally at 355-1610 or outside the Lansing area at 1-800-GO-STATE.

CMU Accepts Bid to Little Caesars Pizza Bowl

Central Michigan has accepted an invitation to play in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl, setting up a meeting with Western Kentucky of the Sun Belt Conference on December 26, 2012 at Ford Field in Detroit. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.

"We are thrilled to be back in Detroit for a bowl game," said CMU Athletics Director Dave Heeke. "Central Michigan has a great tradition with this bowl. I am so pleased that our loyal fans will have an opportunity to rally around this program and come out in big numbers. I am very proud of the players and coaches in our program and happy for the opportunity they have to extend their season."

TICKET INFORMATION: Tickets will go on sale at Ticket Central Thursday at 8 a.m., by phone (1-888-FIRE-UP2), in person (CMU Events Center atrium), and online.  Purchasing tickets through the CMU ticket office is the only way to ensure seating in CMU fan sections.
