Aretha Franklin May Have Sung For A P-I-N Rather Than Respect At Kennedy Center Honors

DETROIT (WWJ) - Aretha Franklin may have made a plea for more than R-E-S-P-E-C-T at the White House as a wardrobe malfunction left her running for coverage.

While attending a reception connected to the Kennedy Center Honors on Sunday the Queen of Soul lost the upper half of her gown.

According to the Detroit Free Press the pink gown with its white beaded bodice was not properly hooked and partially slid down to her waist.

According to Franklin's representative her escort came to the rescue getting her out of the spotlight and helping gather the gown back together.

The night continued without a hitch for Franklin as President Barack Obama and wife Michelle welcomed honorees of the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors.
