3 College Students Arraigned In Robbery Spree

KALAMAZOO (WWJ/AP) - Three college students are facing charges following investigations into several holdups on and near the Western Michigan University campus in Kalamazoo.

Police say 18-year-old Jocelyn Walker, 19-year-old Antoine Cantrell and 20-year-old Ryan Hattaway were arraigned Thursday on three counts of armed robbery each.

All three are Kalamazoo residents. Hattaway and Cantrell attend Kalamazoo Valley Community College, while Walker is a student at Western Michigan.

The trio was arrested Monday following a purse snatching at a Walmart store in Oshtemo Township.

While in custody, police noticed the three matched the description of the subjects involved in a pair of Dec. 6 armed robberies that took place within minutes on campus. Police say the two men also matched the description of suspects who robbed an off-campus convenience store later that that night. No injuries were reported.

Detectives are now investigating if any of the three are responsible for other similar crimes in the area.

WMU students were urged to use caution following the robberies.
