Mich. Woman Sprays Teen Son With Tear Gas

JACKSON, Mich. (WWJ/AP) - Authorities say a southern Michigan woman sprayed her 16-year-old son with tear gas during an argument after he refused to go to school.

MLive.com reports police were called at around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday to the home on E. Ganson St. in Jackson, about 65 miles west of Detroit.

Police said the mother and son were arguing when the boy tried to leave home on his bicycle. That's when the mother used the chemical spray.

The mother told police she sprayed her son because she thought he was going to push her or assault her, authorities said. The 16-year-old said he was just trying to get the bike away from her.

Police said no one was injured or arrested.

A report was made by police to the state Department of Human Services.
