Fraser Teen Arrested For Doomsday-Themed Threat

FRASER (WWJ) - A 16-year-old boy could soon face charges for allegedly making a gun threat at Fraser High School.

The teen was arrested after reportedly mentioning that the world was going to end on Friday and that he would shoot people. The student was sent home for making the threat and was later arrested.

Frasier police talking to WWJ Newsradio 950 said that the teen remained in custody Thursday afternoon, but wouldn't confirm any details about the threat itself.

WDIV-TV reported the teen could be charged with making a false report or making a threat of terrorism. The terrorism charge is a felony that carries up to 20 years in prison.

Police said the unnamed teen was not expected to be released any time soon.

This incident came a day after multiple Michigan school districts canceled classes due to talk surrounding the Connecticut school shootings along with possible threats and rumors connected to the Mayan calendar purportedly predicting the end of the world.
