Local Salon Offers Latest Trend For Holidays: Eyelash Extensions

WALLED LAKE (WWJ) - The eyes have it this holiday season and many ladies are shelling out some Christmas cash to bat their lashes without the use of the mascara wand.

WWJ's Kathryn Larson visited a new beauty shop in Walled Lake that's taking on the new trend.

"Everyone that comes in is like 'Oh, I want those Kim Kardashian lashes," said salon aesthetician Bianca Sitto.

At Blush Salon -- out are the old glue and strip lashes and in are the extensions.

"It's fun, but sometimes you want to have them everyday and wake up with them and sleep with them and swim with them. So, that's why Xtreme Lash is great," said Sitto.

And working mother of one, Jenn Faraj, said the lash extensions are a secret weapon in her beauty arsenal.

"People are looking at me that knew me before and saying 'There's something different, you look so pretty today. Is it different eye makeup?' They couldn't quite pinpoint it, which is good, which is what you want," Faraj said.

Sitto said there's a perfect look for everyone.

"We have so many different lashes to work with, from 5 millimeters to 17 millimeters," she said.

Getting lash extensions isn't a surgical procedure, but surgical glue is required -- and it's necessary to help those lashes stay in place for at least three to four weeks.

The eyelash extensions starter set runs about $150 and takes about an hour to do. After that, $50 maintenance visits are required. But for women like Faraj, it's worth it.

"It's a really great option to just be able to have natural looking eyelashes with zero maintenance really," she said.
