Minnesota 76, Michigan State 63

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (97.1 The Ticket) - The Spartans held the Golden Gophers tight until the final minutes of the game but Minnesota went on to beat Michigan State 76-63 on Monday.

Keith Appling scored 15 points and had 5 assists for the Spartans, who went scoreless in the final minutes of the game.

The Spartans (11-3) kept pace with the Golden Gophers trading leads throughout the game but Michigan State stalled with five minutes remaining in the second half and Minnesota never looked back.

Andre Hollins posted a game high 22 points with 6 assists, Rodney Williams had 15 pts. for the Gophers.

The highly anticipated meeting in Minneapolis just the first of many tough contests as conference play begins.

Michigan State takes on Purdue in East Lansing on Saturday, game time to be announced.
