Pedestrian Hospitalized After Hit-And-Run Crash

DEARBORN HEIGHTS (WWJ) - Police in Dearborn Heights are on the hunt for a suspect in a hit-and-run accident that left one person seriously injured.

WWJ's Ron Dewey reports the accident happened around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday on Telegraph and Van Born roads.

Sgt. Al Nason said a 24-year-old Dearborn Heights man was crossing the street when he was struck by Ford pickup truck, which fled the scene after the accident. The victim, whose identity was not released, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

"When we left, he was in intensive care at Oakwood Hospital," Nason said.

Police are now looking for the truck, which is described as a 2004 four-door Ford F-150, dark blue or black in color, with a shiny front bumper and a damaged cab on the back. Police say the truck is missing its passenger side mirror.

"We had a witness that tried to chase the subject down, but he was fleeing through the subdivision too fast," Nason said.

That witness was able to track the suspect's truck long enough to get a partial license plate: either "TRR" or "TRL."

Anyone with information should contact Dearborn Heights Police at 313-277-6770.
