Traffic Alert: Fort Street In Riverview Closed For Weekend

RIVERVIEW (WWJ) - It's a "know before you go" weekend for drivers Downriver.

Contracting crews will be closing a short portion of northbound Fort Street (M-85) in the city of Riverview this weekend in order to construct two new sewer crossings. The work will require pavement removal across all northbound lanes.

The closure is scheduled to begin 6 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, and end by 5 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22.

During the full closure, all northbound traffic will be directed to westbound King Road, then northbound Allen Road to eastbound Eureka Road, and back to northbound Fort Street. Local traffic will be permitted to use one lane up to Longsdorf Street. North of Longsdorf Street, two lanes of northbound Fort Street will be open.

This utility work is associated with the ongoing reconstruction of M-85 between Sibley and Pennsylvania roads, which is expected to be completed this fall.
