Michigan Glass Project Injects 12k Into Belle Isle Aquarium
DETROIT (WWJ) - The Belle Isle Aquarium has an extra $12,000 on hand Saturday afternoon - thanks to a donation from a group of renowned glass blowers.
The glass blowers from around the country gathered in Detroit this summer for a weekend-long effort called the Michigan Glass Project-- and auctioned off all their creations to benefit the Aquarium.
Patrick Vance, with the Belle Isle Conservancy, says the check will be put to good use.
"We picked up six thousand dollars worth of pond armour epoxy paint that can allow us to start restoring the tanks ... so this is going to go toward restoration of the tanks and eventually add more tanks for public display," said Vance.
The Aquarium is open every Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
